Chemistry curriculum intent

Triple Chemistry

Our aim is to provide a curriculum that will challenge, inspire and engage all students and help them identify and understand chemistry both in the classroom and in the world around them. We aim to enable students to become confident, resilient scientists who develop a love of learning for Chemistry. Our curriculum constantly revisits prior learning to increase confidence and sustain the retention of knowledge. Students will use this foundation in chemistry to gain a more in depth understanding and awareness of how chemical reactions are an integral part of daily life. Students will develop skills in the scientific method, practical skills, mathematical and problem-solving skills which will equip them for further studies in the scientific field; whilst being able to transfer the skills they have developed in a range of future career paths and subjects.

A Level Chemistry

Our aim is to provide a curriculum that will inspire and engage all students; and help them identify and understand chemistry both in the classroom and in the world around them. A Level Chemistry at Grace academy is designed to provide challenging opportunities for students to think and communicate at the highest level. We aim to develop resilient learners who are inquisitive, creative, and ambitious.

Students will develop understanding and awareness of how chemical reactions are an integral part of daily life. They will develop technical expertise with a range of equipment, practical skills, mathematical and problem-solving skills through required practicals and a range of other practical activities. Developing skills in the scientific method, data analysis and evaluation will provide students with a strong foundation for a specialist scientific career; whilst also equipping them with transferrable skills they can apply across a range of careers, not only in the field of Chemistry.
