Errol Lawson visit

Today we have had the privilege of having the brilliant Errol Lawson come to visit us at Grace Academy Darlaston. Errol is an award-winning author, an entrepreneur, and a motivational speaker. Errol spoke to our Year 8, 9 and 10 students, inspiring them with his own story, from his early beginnings as a troubled teenager, when things were not so great right up to the success he is today. He gave valuable advice about friendships and how forging the right kinds of friendship can make the biggest impact and difference in life. Based on feedback, this was a valuable message for all students.

Here at Grace Academy, we strongly believe in second chances and that students with the right advice, support and guidance can make better decisions and turn things around. This is why as part of our new rewards and resilience system we have introduced the 180 Award. This award is given to students each term who have done just that, made better decisions.

As part of the talks today we recognised, celebrated and awarded these students. The students who embody this have shown that change is possible and making an effort can make the biggest difference across the board but most importantly, they have shown that it is never too late to turn it around. A very big well done to all the students that were rewarded today. They all took away, a certificate, a goody bag full of prizes and a copy of Errol’s new book!

We are really grateful to Errol for taking time out of his busy schedule, it really is appreciated, and we know that many of the students he spoke to, left feeling inspired and motivated to succeed.
